Photography: Voice of Truth

I am in love with photographs. I love the feeling I get upon looking at awesome pictures. I love how a single picture can brighten me up in a gloomy day. I love taking random pictures. I love the way photographers showcase their talent and love for art. Ohh, I just love everything about photography! But  photography seems to be so far away from me.

Back then, I just considered photography as a spare-time activity. Now, because of the activity, I have proven that "A picture is worth a thousand words." Pictures depicts the truth that people must be familiar of.

"Colors and Figures"

This represents the racial discrimination that leads to strive for perfection between white and black people,  skinny and fat.

"Simplicity"

A true beauty is the one that is pure, plain and simple.

"Downcast"

Inequality, arrogation and prejudice are being practiced by the higher level of individuals in our society. As a result, withering humanity continuously takes place.

"Withstand"

People must be like a tree: strong, growing and flexible. We must always look up to God  and need not to forget to bend down even how high we are.

"Circular Flow"

Life is like a circle. It always begins where it ends. The most important thing is, we shall learn to go with the constant flow and enjoy every single minute of it.

"Separated"

Poor people are always left behind from the rest of the world. But they are not valueless because they can also do great things. They can be compared to these cut bamboos that were separated from the bamboos. Still, they can be useful.

"Renewal"

The world needs a strong foundation of goodness and rebirth of transformed people.
"Achromatic Change"

Mother Earth is in pain and invasion of darkness is prevailing due to the malpractices of the people.

"End Goal"

In our quest for success, we are going to face many stations in life that will be our pathway towards our dreams. But in the end of life, we will be judged in above according to what we did on earth. Our actions make reflection of who we really are.

"Inevitable Imperfections"

Nobody is perfect. All of us, no matter how rich, good or pretty we are have our own flaws that prove that humans make mistakes.

There's a lot of need for me to improve in photography. I am looking forward to use my free time to capture more shots. Hopefully, I can do better someday.

Alice in St. Scho

Through the series of chosen pictures taken by some members of our group, we have created a story of a fantasy world that epitomizes the kind of society we belong, where there is an existence of human frailties. The theme of our story is based on “Alice in Wonderland”. We chose this idea to make our story fun and exciting. This will help people to critically think how a simple photograph can tell a sequence of stories and how these stories give birth to the truth.

How can a teenage girl with innocent mind and youthful heart be an instrument of awareness? Come and join Alice as she enters a brand new world.

Grass Field

Alice was playing in the field.

Deeply

Suddenly, she started to fall asleep.

Long Way

And then, she got to dreamland. She was dreaming that she was in an extreme need to know something and that she was running through this long way.

Dimensional Tree

At the end of the long way was a strong tree.

Hole of the 21 Dimension

And in that tree was a hole.

Unique Vintage Point

She got into the hole. While She was falling, she was shrinking right at this place.

Maze

She was walking, trying to find her way out when she got herself into this maze.

Doors of New Beginning

When she got through the maze, there were doors right in front of her.

Peek a Bit

She was trying to look through the doors from the little keyhole.

The Chosen One

Finally, she chose this door. Thinking that this is her way out.

Narrow Door

When she opened it she was surprised by this tight passage that she needs to get through.

Here Comes The Light

She ran towards the light. Smiling because she smells freedom.

Different

But then what she saw was creatures, different kind of creatures.

The different colors, shapes and sizes represents the type of an individual in an unfair social class that he or she belongs.

She was trying ask for a help to some random twins.

This represents the issue of discrimination between black and white people.

Making Friends

And to the other creatures as well.

Here, Alice found out that there are still companion among some people and mixing up with others is one way to enjoy life.

Loner

But then no one would talk to her. She felt like she's an outcast.

Now, she understood the feelings of an outcast and how it was to be neglected by the society.

Mirror to Reality

She then saw a mirror. She took hold of the mirror and tried to look at herself but what she saw was the reflection of the reality.

About To

Then and there, she was about to wake up.

She was able to conclude that the humanity of the present world is slowly withering.

About to Wake Up

The image of her dreams are lifting up.

When she saw a white flower, it reminded her of the key factors to a righteous and happy live: Simplicity and Goodness like that of Christ.

Good Morning, change!

Finally, she's awake. What she saw first was the beauty of the sky.

At last! Alice became civic conscious and started to do her mission. This mission is to be a catalyst of change  by bringing to life the things that she learned from her dream.
Alice had travelled from different places through her dreams. Weird as her dream, she realized and learned few things.  First was she realized that there are still beautiful things that a human eye cannot usually see. Second was she learned that humans are not the only creatures in the world and there are other creatures live different from us. Creatures that live in the same planet but in different routine that we should respect. Lastly was she realized that she is a human being and she has the ability to tell the world what she had learned from her dream.
“A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”

Her dream has been an instrument for her to know the wickedness in society. Alice must be the representation of human beings, who are aware and eager to save humanity from its downfall.

A just society  is awaiting us. Be the reason behind it!

Parallel World

Parallel World

First I wasn't really interested in photography because I have a negative perception about it. Before, I believed that photography has no sense of adventure and creativity because all you have to do is take a picture and that's it. But this experience has changed my perception, it became positive. Photography is not just taking picture but capturing the unique things around you and let your imagination controls you. It makes every picture alive and even though small things has a great impact in our eyes. It is a cool way to express yourself  and all you have to do is to have an eye for it.

Two legs

This picture was taken in the garden near at the SAC Office. This picture looks like a leg and it's like a man standing. This picture caught my attention because for me it symbolizes independence and courage.

Wonderland

I called it Wonderland because it has unique appearance  and I like the shape. When I saw this, Alice in Wonderland popped out in my head. It's like an entrance in a new world.

Ruins

This picture looks like a ruin because there are cracks.

 The Road

This picture is simple but I like the simplicity because there is something about it that caught my attention.

Endless

This picture looks endless because it like there is no dead end and it just continues.

Worm view

I imagined myself as a worm when I took this picture.

Upside Down

I like this picture because it feels like I'm going to fall because it's so high

The Hole

I like this picture because of the effect and it's unique.

Maturity

This picture for me symbolizes maturity because it is fully grown and it can stand by itself. I like this picture because of the angle.

Munchkins

I called it munchkins because I imagined it as a food in Dunkin Donut.

I enjoyed doing this activity. Because of this I was able to fall in love in photography.

What lies beyond the wall

I love photography but photography doesn't love me. I’ve tried using my photography skills before at some place, things, person, food, etc. I take good shots but for me, it is always a failure. I think all my pictures are ugly or doesn't make any sense. Well, not just in picture but I think everything I do is a failure.  In the contrary, I still see an allure in my works.  I can still see a fragment of beauty in some of my works.

I can still see luminous in some of my works. Like this photo, it has a hint of vivid and a hint of obscurity.

We have different perspective in life. We have our own individuality. Some are good in photography. Some are not.  Unfortunately, I belong to those who are weak in terms of art or photography.  But I have my own strength and artistry in some things that others don’t have. Like this photos, we have our own uniqueness.  We possess some talent that others don’t have. We should always be thankful with what god gave us.

Everyone is going to have a different path in life.Like what god said, we are his sheep and he is our shepherd. He guides us in our ways. The shepherd is the one in charge of taking care or his sheep. Like this picture, we have our different path in life but we only have one shepherd. In the end, we will always have our own destiny in our life.

Opportunity comes and goes. If one wave is missed, another presents itself. Some bigger and some are small. It’s always coming, one  after  another, always there. They say, if one door closes, another door will open.  Like this picture, sometimes we choose to keep the door close because we are afraid of what’s inside. We should always be brave in trying new things in life. If we never try, we will never know. We gain knowledge and experience when we try new things. We gain experience in trying new things and that will make us stronger as an individual.

This activity tells me that i have a fragment of skill in photography. I can take good shots but not as good as the others do. I think a little more practice will do.

All the Small Things | Photo Essay

All the Small Things
Different angles with different interpretations

What is photography? For the majority, photography is just simply taking pictures and nothing more. But beyond that definition, photography is not just a profession or a hobby. It is another way of seeing things in a different angle. It reveals a story that the human eye cannot usually see. This what I have learned in the activity.

"Strength in God"
Rule of Thirds

"End of Story"
Leading Lines
The pedestrian lane may lead your eyes frontward for a moment but it ended. This can symbolize that there will always be an end in every story.

"Wheel of Fortune"
Curving Lines
Nothing is permanent in life. We may be living the life today but no one knows how the future will go. There is always the possibility that our lives would change in a snap.

"Reach For It"
Straight Horizons
Nowadays, we are surrounded by material things. Overly surrounded that we cannot see anymore the beauty of nature. We are now dependent to material things and does not know that Mother Nature got some better offers.

"The More You Dig"
Imagined Horizons

"When It Blooms"
Depth
Every person matures and bloom physically but may have some problems spiritually or emotionally.

"Discover"
Frame
Imagine in this picture that the branches of the trees symbolizes darkness but slowly opens showing that there is still light to be seen.

"Stress"
Detail and Texture
The texture of this picture is rough and the leaf is too dry. The leaf may illustrate a person who is surrounded by stressful environment that makes him old.

"Keep Still"
Fill-frame
In taking this picture, the air should not be blowing too hard so that the leaves would stay still.

"Unseen Beauty"
Reflection
Entitled "Unseen Beauty" because I saw this water under the drainage and when I took a picture, turns out great.

"Move On"
Background

"Other Part"
Unique Vantage Point
Seeing in different perspective. A point of view of an insect.

"Mismatched"
Shadow
This may represent two persons. Two persons with the same features and rights but different in personality and ability.

"Sit and Wait"
Pattern and Shapes

This activity made me realize that photography is something you work hard for. It is not just having a camera and take a shot but it needs effort to emphasize the beauty of the shot. Furthermore, this activity helped me appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature. It made me see the loveliness of the nature.

“Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.”
- Henri Cartier-Bresson

Moreover, photography also needs practice. Come to think of it, not all of my shots made sense and needs improvement. It also needs patience to get the right shot. As I take pictures, I realized that I have to look for a better view and angle. I should be creative and should know what would be the sense in taking this particular shot or is it beautiful to look at. Over time, my photographs will improve with the practice, patience and creativity that I will do and have.
